特別在冬季野外作業，天氣寒冷，不易啟動，不少駕駛員習慣于裝載機不作業時讓其長時間怠速運轉。長時間怠速運轉機油泵會出現泵油不足，機油壓力低，各運動副需求潤滑的油量和油壓達不到要求，摩擦阻力增大，磨損加劇，特別是活塞、缸套磨損大，易造成竄氣；有時還會導致氣門和活塞環卡死。此外，長時間怠速運轉柴油霧化不良，燃燒不完全，會造成滯燃期延長，積炭嚴重，工作粗暴。
